What types of samples do you usually test?Our forensic DNA testing laboratory routinely tests buccal swabs, hair with roots, blood, semen and saliva stains on clothing, bones, muscle and organ tissue, cigarette butts, frequently-used personal items, and other biological materials left behind at a crime scene.
Can you detect blood and semen from a stain on a piece of garment?Yes, we can. We perform serology tests to determine if the stain is blood, semen, or saliva.
What type of sample can be used as reference sample to compare with the evidence sample?We take buccal swabs, blood,and other known biological samples following chain of custody procedures as the reference sample.
Do you provide second-opinion DNA testing for evidence and reference samples processed by a government crime lab?Yes, we routinely perform second-opinion DNA testing for legal professionals such as defense attorneys.
How can I get the evidence released from a law enforcement agency or government crime lab to conduct a second-opinion DNA test in your lab?It is the responsibility of our clients to make the arrangement with the law enforcement agency, judge and/or prosecutor to release the evidence. We will provide a shipping address for the crime lab or the law enforcement agency so they can send evidence directly to our laboratory following strict chain of custody procedures.
